SAFET CONFERENCE PRINCIPLES

The SAFET Conference is committed to providing a professional, inclusive, and respectful environment that supports open dialogue and responsible innovation across the seafood and fisheries sector.

Professional and respectful engagement

Participants are expected to act with professionalism, engage constructively, respect differing views, and follow venue and SAFET guidance.

Inclusion and non-discrimination

SAFET promotes an inclusive environment. Discrimination on any grounds is not acceptable

Zero tolerance for harassment

Harassment, including offensive comments, intimidation, unwanted contact, or disruptive behaviour, is not permitted.

Conduct during sessions

Do not interrupt speakers. Follow moderator guidance. Speakers and moderators should ensure respectful and balanced discussion.

Chatham House Rule

The following Chatham House Rule applies to roundtable and other similar sessions.

“When a meeting, or part thereof, is held under the Chatham House Rule, participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed”

Commercial conduct

SAFET is a collaborative forum.  Avoid unsolicited promotion. Ensure commercial engagement is appropriate and transparent.

Badge and security

Conference badges must be worn, are non-transferable, and all venue security instructions must be followed.

Photography and recording

Respect consent and session rules. Some sessions, for example round tables discussions may restrict recording.

Reporting and enforcement

Concerns should be reported to organisers. Violations may result in removal from the event.

Sustainability commitment

We aim to minimise environmental impact by reducing waste, limiting single-use plastics, offering responsible catering, supporting local suppliers, and encouraging lower-impact travel.

By participating, all attendees agree to uphold these principles.
