Bubba has spent a lifetime on the ocean and over two decades in fisheries. His worldwide journey began in the US Navy, where his passion for international fisheries took root. Driven by concerns over declining fish stocks, he earned a B.S. in Fisheries from Texas A&M and a J.D. in Environmental Law from Lewis & Clark College. Bubba has held roles with NOAA in Alaska, WWF’s Arctic Program, and the U.S. Peace Corps in Fiji, where he supported small-scale marine conservation. From 2012 to 2024, he led WWF’s Western and Central Pacific Tuna Program. He now works with Sharks Pacific, advancing shark conservation through policy, market tools, and innovation.
