Esther helps lead Pew’s international fisheries project, advancing sustainability through advocacy with national governments, regional bodies, and UN agencies. Previously, she worked on Pew’s global shark conservation efforts, playing a key role in protecting sharks and rays in the Pacific and securing international trade regulations under CITES. Esther also champions inclusion, diversity, and equity across Pew’s initiatives. Before joining Pew, she worked at the intersection of ocean science and policy with institutions including the University of the South Pacific, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and IUCN. She holds a bachelor’s degree in marine science from the University of the South Pacific in Fiji.
