Huaijin Bio:
Huaijin Chen is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UHM), where he has directed the Computational Imaging and Robotic Perception (CIRP) Lab since joining the university in 2024. His research is supported by the NSF, USDA, Google, NVIDIA, and the Minderoo Foundation. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Rice University in 2019 and his B.S. in Imaging Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). Prior to joining UHM, he worked at Vayu Robotics, NVIDIA, and IBM. He has authored more than 15 peer-reviewed papers in leading computer vision and imaging venues, including CVPR, ICCP, and Optics Express, and holds four U.S. patents. Dr. Chen has served on the program committees of ICCP and IJCAI and regularly reviews for major journals and conferences, including IEEE TPAMI, IEEE TIP, Optics Express, Optics Letters, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, and ICLR. His awards include the $10,000 Grand Prize in Productivity at the 2025 Farm Robotics Challenge, the ICCV 2021 Outstanding Reviewer Award, the ICCP 2019 Best Poster Award, and the Texas Instruments Distinguished Graduate Student Fellowship.
