Paige M. Roberts Bio:

Paige M. Roberts is the Programme Lead for the Joint Analytical Cell (JAC) at the International Monitoring, Control and Surveillance (IMCS) Network, where she oversees their participation in the JAC through development and implementation of international work plans to enhance global fisheries compliance through collaboration and capacity building. Concurrently, she serves as a Maritime Analyst at Skylight, a program of the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence (Ai2), where she provides insights on fisheries and remote sensing to guide AI model development and product decisions, manages commercial satellite imagery collections, and represents Skylight in the JAC. Dedicated to mulit-stakeholder collaboration, she frequently leads international workshops on MCS principles and data analysis, with the goal of making complex data systems accessible and applicable for sustainable fisheries management.

Paige has twenty years of experience applying fisheries science and technology to maritime challenges, especially in data-poor environments. Her past work includes contributions to publications examining the intersection of climate change, fisheries, and conflict; analysis of illegal fishing and foreign vessel encroachment patterns in the Coral Triangle for the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Global Maritime Crime Program; and designing Project Badweyn, an award-winning interactive decision support tool for Somali coastal resource management. Paige balances her desk-based analytical work with extensive field experience and community engagement. She worked with local fishers, universities, and government agencies to develop a mobile fish catch data collection system for Somali communities and co-designed the first spiny lobster fisheries management plan in Puntland, Somalia. She has extensive field survey experience sampling for fish and crabs in the Chesapeake Bay for the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center. Paige holds a Master of Science in GIS Management from Salisbury University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Marine Science from the University of Miami.
