Tamre Sarhan –
Tamre Sarhan is Senior Manager of Independent Monitoring (IM) at AFMA, leading key initiatives including the rollout of electronic monitoring (EM) across major Commonwealth fisheries under a standards-based model and the internalisation of EM review. His work focuses on improving monitoring efficiency, strengthening compliance outcomes, and driving innovation through technology.
Tamre holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Fisheries from the Australian Maritime College and brings more than 15 years of experience in fisheries monitoring and management. He began his career as an at-sea observer, spending close to 2,000 days aboard vessels across most Commonwealth fisheries. This extensive field experience gives him a practical understanding of on-water operations and the critical role of accurate data in sustainable management. Today, Tamre applies that knowledge to deliver an IM program that is cost-effective, scalable, and ready for the future.
